I am trained in various Complementary Therapies, which work well with hypnosis. These include:

Counselling and Therapy Coaching

‘The greatest tragedy of a lifetime must be to live with regret…to reach a point where you were confronted with all the things you had not done or even tried.’
(Fiona Harrold)

I have a Further Certificate in Counselling Skills (WKC) specialising in Person Centered Counselling. I integrate my counselling skills into my therapy work. Person Centered Counselling is a talk psychotherapy developed by Carl Rogers in the 1940’s. It is the most widely used model in psychotherapy and has proved to be very popular and effective.

Most people at some time in their lives experience difficulties or problems and feel they are going through a really rough patch. It is often hard to speak to family and friends about these problems. Person Centered Counselling takes the view that every person has the internal resources they need for growth, and for achieving a more satisfying way of being and living their lives. It is based on a trust that they can access their own answers and fulfil their own potential.

Therapy Coaching is an empathic, constructive and challenging model of coaching which draws on my strengths, experience and training as a therapist and as a coach. It can help you to identify and achieve your personal goals, and realise your full potential, thus enabling you to maximise your performance.

Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT)

I have a diploma in CBT Coaching from The City CBT Coaching College. I am trained in CBT and RECBT (Rational Emotive Cognitive Behaviour Therapy). CBT is a talking therapy which helps you to manage your problems, by changing how you think (cognitive) and how you act (behaviour). It is a therapy which can help you feel better about your life.

CBT focuses on problems and difficulties you are having ‘NOW’ in the present, rather than issues from the past. It is a structured, collaborative and directive process that is goal orientated and problem focused. It works extremely well in conjunction with hypnosis and is strongly influenced by the Roman philosopher Epictetus who stated that:

Men are disturbed not by things but by their view of things.’

Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP)

‘We all work hard at sameness but the reality is that we are all unique and our power lies in our uniqueness’

NLP is the study of our unique experience of life. It studies how we structure our internal world from our own experience and give it meaning. Every single person will give a very different perspective and meaning to the very same event, and this makes us unique and individual.

In NLP we study the language used by the client and the effect it has on his thoughts and behaviour.

NLP is the practice of understanding how outstanding people achieve their outstanding results. It studies how outstanding people organise their thinking, feeling, language and behaviour in order to achieve the results they do, and provides a way of ‘modelling’ outstanding successes.

It works extremely well with hypnosis and brings about self development and change.

Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR).

Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing is a powerful psychological therapy developed by Francine Shapiro in the 1980’s, to resolve the development of trauma related disorders caused by major trauma such as assault, rape, road traffic accidents, surgical trauma or military combat.

When a distressing or traumatic experience occurs, it may overwhelm the usual cognitive and neurological coping mechanisms. Thus the memory of the traumatic event is inadequately processed. The goal then of EMDR therapy is to process these distressing memories, thereby reducing their lingering influence and allowing the client to develop more adaptive coping mechanisms. In short, to allow him to move on with his life.
